What was announced
Per Apple Newsroom, dated October 26, 2026, the 27.2 software updates expand Siri AI to more people. Five languages are added: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
Apple describes Siri AI as a completely reimagined Siri that is more capable, conversational and personal. According to the announcement, it is built on Apple Intelligence and does not compromise user privacy.
More is coming: Apple says Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese arrive by the end of the year.
On the rollout side, Siri AI is in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. It requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language.
Three concrete advantages
- Personal context. Apple says Siri AI draws on personal context to find things across messages, emails and photos. The assistant stops being a voice search box.
- Systemwide app actions. Apple cites drafting an email from scratch and editing then sharing a set of photos. One spoken request can chain several steps.
- Onscreen awareness. Also per Apple, Siri AI can answer questions or act on what is on screen. No more copying content just to ask about it.
Three opportunities it opens
- Test your app actions. iOS developers will likely want to check how their screens behave when Siri AI reads or acts on them, now in more languages.
- Reach new language markets. Small teams targeting French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese or Korean speakers could find a fresh voice-interaction channel to prototype.
- Build voice-driven workflows. Creators and freelancers might sketch photo-then-share or email-then-send flows driven by voice, to be validated on a real device.
What specialist blogs are saying
Two specialist outlets have reacted to the announcement, with different tones.
- MacGeneration is mixed: according to the site, "Siri AI raises a fundamental problem for Apple along the way: that of search within its own applications." The French-language rollout highlights a deeper problem with search inside Apple's own applications.
- 9to5Mac is positive: according to the site, "But Siri is getting even better today with new 27.2 software updates that are rolling out." The outlet welcomes improvements including expanded language support, conversation recall, and additional personal context sources.
What remains to be verified
Europe is the big open question. According to Apple, Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and Apple says it is working constructively with the EU to find a path forward. No timeline is given.
Apple also notes that features relying on server-side models, Siri AI included, are subject to daily usage limits. Limits vary by feature, request complexity and system demand. Expanded access will be available for a fee in the future, with no price published. Siri AI is not available for users under 13.
Dutch is not on the Siri AI language list announced so far.
